Slides Available From Mark Estdale’s Talk at GDC Europe

Following a successful talk at GDC Europe, the slides and transcript from OMUK Founder Mark Estdale’s talk are now available to view for free in the GDC Vault. If have a membership to the vault itself, a filmed version of the talk is also available to view.

Covering Mark’s experience of working with Telltale Games on Wallace and Gromit, through to localizing Daedalic’s Deponia series and KING Art’s Book of Unwritten Tales titles, the talk explores the power of context, collaboration and agile pipelines, and how they can transform localization for the better.

KING Art Games Kickstarts ‘The Dwarves’

KING Art Games are ready to start their next adventure, and have taken to Kickstarter once again to help bring it to life. Based on the first novel in the series by German Author Markus Heitz, The Dwarves is set to bring the battles often seen in epic fantasy films to life. We’re working with KING Art to cast and record their latest production, and are looking forward to spending more time in Girdlegard.

Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power

Frozenbyte have announced that the eagerly anticipated third entry in the Trine series will be released on PC on August 20th, with Mac and Linux versions soon to follow. OMUK Cast, Recorded and Directed the characters for the game, which continues the developer’s trend for stunning visuals, clever puzzles and a delightful soundtrack.

Trine 3 is available for pre-order on Steam and GOG

Stars of Game of Thrones Record at OMUK

Four stars of the hit HBO  TV show Game of Thrones recorded at OMUK for multiple episodes of the Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series video game.

Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Snow), Kit Harrington (Jon Snow), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) and Natalie Dormer (Margery Tyrell) came to OMUK’s Kings Cross studio to record their voices for the series.  The sessions used the pioneering GIVR production methodology developed by Mark Estdale for video game voice recording.

Spanning 6 episodes, Telltale’s Game of Thrones centers around the plight of House Forrester. Episode 5 of the series, ‘A Nest of Vipers‘, was released on July 21, 2015.

Team OMUK raises over £3000 for GamesAid

A huge hug and a big thank you to everyone who sponsored Team OMUK for the 2015 London Vitality 10k run last Sunday.

Along with Terry Haynes from Hotgen, Team OMUK raised £3,157.33 for GamesAid. GamesAid is the inspired UK games industry charity that raises funds to support those helping severely disabled and disadvantaged children and young people.

We are sore, hobbling and proud to have all crossed the finish line.

OMUK at GDC Europe 2015 and Gamescom

GDC Europe is next week, and OMUK’s Mark Estdale will be doing a talk at the conference on Tuesday August 4th from 15:05 to 15:30, on the challenges of localizing comedy. If you’ve wanted a fresh view of localization, then we hope to see some of you there.
